ARK's 7% GDP Growth Thesis, Explained

Cathie Wood projects 7% real global GDP growth by 2030, driven by five converging platforms. We map each one to what ARK actually holds.

It is the number underneath every ARK forecast: real global GDP growth accelerating to around 7%, against roughly 3% for the past 125 years. Here is the argument — and the portfolio ARK has built to express it.

ARK's central macro forecast is that real global GDP growth reaches roughly 7% by 2030 — more than double the approximately 3% average of the last century and a quarter. This is not a market call. It is a claim about the productive capacity of the world economy, and every ARK price target ultimately rests on it.

The mechanism ARK proposes is convergence. Five technology platforms are each on their own exponential cost curve, and crucially they compound with one another rather than developing in isolation.

ARK's framework names robotics, energy storage, artificial intelligence, blockchain and multiomic sequencing. The convergence argument is that AI accelerates genomic analysis, robotics needs energy storage, blockchain provides settlement for autonomous machine transactions, and so on — so the platforms multiply rather than add.
